Add the PTA Google Calendar!

Our calendars are busy and hard to keep up to date! Our PTA has a Google Calendar that you can subscribe to with all of our PTA and school events. We will keep it updated with information as details arrive. If you would like to keep things simple and just add our PTA calendar to your Google Calendar (rather than enter every event yourself):

  1. On your computer, open Google Calendar.
  2. On the left, next to "Other Calendars," click the + signChoose "Subscribe to Calendar"
  3. Enter comm1@ptache.com
  4. Click the arrow back to your calendar (top left) and your PTA calendar (comm1@ptache.com) should be in the "Other Calendars" section and events should show up in your Google Calendar
School Supplies

The grade level school supplies are on our school website. CLICK HERE to see the list.

If your family needs support with supplies this year, the PTA has backpacks filled with many of the supplies from these lists. Please reach out to the office if you are interested in one of the PTA backpacks.

PTA Clothing Center - Volunteers Needed

Twice a year, every PTA in the district sends volunteers to help sort clothing at the PTA Clothing Center. This is a vital part of our district's support for families in PPS. If you have a couple hours to spare, please consider volunteering.

If you would like to volunteer on September 7th, please reach out to our volunteer coordinators, Kate Gannon-Sprinkel and Jill Morgan at volunteer1@ptache.com

All families in PPS have access to the Clothing Center. To take advantage of this amazing service, reach out to our office and they will provide you with an application. Families can visit the clothing center twice a year and shop for PPS students.

2023 PTA Ice Treat Social!

Thursday, September 7th
6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

The Ice Treat Social is our first PTA community event of the year! We are so excited to get back together again and celebrate the start of a new school year.

The Ice Treat Social is a completely relaxed social event where we get together as a community and just hang out! The kids play on the playground, families get to know each other and there are FREE frozen treats for everyone! The PTA will have tables set up with information about ways you can volunteer this year so swing by a table to find out more information!

Loved (Used) Book Exchange

Thursday, September 7th (during the ice treat social in the gym)

We have a new PTA event this year that we are very excited about - the LOVED (Used) Book Exchange!

We watch our kids grow in so many ways and one of the most exciting is to watch them grow as readers! Keeping up with all the books can be a lot so the PTA is going to host a Loved (Used) Book Exchange.

Families will donate books their children have loved but have grown out of and then our community can come "shop" for new books. There is no cost and you don't have to donate books in order to choose books. We would like everyone to have the opportunity to find a few well loved books to start our new school year.

There will be more information coming on how and where to donate but for now - start looking at those bookshelves for books you would like to pass on to other children at Capitol Hill.

We will need volunteers to help sort books too! ◡̈

Please make sure the books are still is good condition.

For questions please contact Melissa Hamilton at comm1@ptache.com

After School Enrichment Program 2023-2024

Last year we were able to restart our amazing After School Enrichment Program. Many of our students were able to take part in several of our classes and it was so fun to see our kids get so much out of each program.

This year we will be adding a few new classes (ukulele, Spanish, crafting, Minecraft and sports) along with many familiar classes (LEGO, watercolors, yoga, electronic music and chess). We will have 10 classes running this year and we hope that everyone will be able to take advantage of these amazing classes!

We are still working out all of the final details but will have registration information during the first week of school. We will have three sessions this year:

  • Fall: Sept 18th - Dec 15th (12 weeks)
  • Winter: Jan 2nd - Mar 22nd (12 weeks)
  • Spring: April 1st - June 7th (10 weeks)

If cost is a barrier for your family, please contact the office. The PTA has scholarship options for families through our Student Support Fund. We would love to work with your family to help our students participate in our after school classes.

Student Support Fund

The Capitol Hill Community's generosity at the 2023 auction helped us create a Student Support Fund for our students this year. This money will be used to support our students in a variety of ways throughout the year. We want all of our students to feel supported and this fund will allow us to find new ways to do just that.

If your family is in need of support - from basic needs to scholarships for after school enrichment classes - please reach out to our school counselor Dan Zelazek (dzelazek@pps.net), our school social worker Jeremy Schlott (jschlott@pps.net) or anyone in our office - Principal Sauers, Lucy Morehouse or Kristin King.

The PTA would like to find new ways to support our families at Capitol Hill and we are excited to have the Student Support Fund in order to help us achieve that goal.

2023 - 2024 PTA Board Members

We are so excited to announce our new PTA Board for the 2023 - 2024 school year!

We are excited about starting a new school year with this amazing PTA board!

Capitol Hill on Instagram and Facebook

Say what you will about social media ... but it is a great way to get information out to lots of people quickly! For this reason, our PTA is on both Facebook and Instagram. Our Parents Facebook page is also a great place for parents to post questions and get information about things happening in our community.

It is also a great way to see old photos from PTA events if you are new to our school. ◡̈
