Although we are sad to see Heidi go, we are so excited for her new adventures! Please come show Heidi some love by helping us celebrate her retirement on TOMORROW, December 14th from 5:30-6:30. Adults and kids are welcome to swing by school and let Heidi know how much she has meant to our community over the last 14 years. Directly following Heidi's Retirement Celebration, we will have our PTA meeting. Please join us TOMORROW in the cafeteria from 6:30-7:30. 

Tomorrow, Jeremy Schlott, our school social worker, will join us to talk about ways we can help our kids navigate all the many changes they have experienced over the last few years. He will share resources our school has available and is happy to answer any questions or concerns parents might have.

At Next month's meeting (1/11), we hope everyone can join as Principal Sauers provides us information about testing data from our students. The pandemic directly impacted student learning and he will be able to share what that looks like for the kids at Capitol Hill. 

FREE childcare is provided during the PTA meeting by our amazing Champions team. Please reply to this email if you plan to bring your child/children so that we can give them a headcount. 

On Saturday, February 25th, we will have our biggest fundraiser of the year and one of our best parties of the year ... the AUCTION! 

Mark your calendars and start planning those groovy outfits because Capitol Hill is known for our auction costumes! To see photos from previous auctions CLICK HERE. 

Auction invitations will be coming out in January with information on how to purchase tickets. This is an adults only night where we have a really fun time while raising money for our kids!

The PTA has had many fundraising opportunities already this year and we are constantly amazed by the generosity of our community! We thought we would send everyone a big thank you and fill you in on how your generosity has paid off!

• Book Fair: $2,324 directly to our school library
• Spirit Wear: $1,050
• Big Boo: $5,429

All of our fundraisers and donations help fund:

• generous classroom budgets
• field trips for all grade levels
• special field trips for 4th and 5th graders 
• PTA events (GrandFriends Day, etc)
• school programs (the garden, OBOB etc)
• support for any of our families in need through different programs/scholarships

Our Staff Appreciation Team has been working hard all year to show our teachers and staff how much we love and appreciate all they do for our kids. They have brought morning snacks and coffee as well as after school snacks for staff meetings.

As we get to the end of the year, many of you might be looking for places to make meaningful donations. 

The Capitol Hill PTA is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. Your tax deductible donations to the PTA help provide teachers with a generous classroom budget, fund special school programs as well as community and school events. Our PTA helps fill in the gaps in the school budget and has helped support our community in so many ways.

As the holidays approach, many families might be looking for a fun way to spoil some of their favorite staff members. They work so hard to help our children be successful every day and we cannot thank them enough.

The PTA asked the amazing teachers and staff at Capitol Hill to share their favorite things with us. Cards saying how much your teachers and staff mean to you and your family are, of course, the best gifts ... but in case you want to splurge, we have put together a guide to help you get them something they will really love!

The PTA Website is full of great information and now has a new Resources tab. There you will find PTA meeting minutes, treasurer's reports, calendars, newsletters, the PTA reimbursement form and the Staff Favorite Things List. 

Each year, Mt. Hood Meadows has a consecutive week ski program especially for kids. Every Sunday in the months of January and February, a bus leaves from Capitol Hill and heads up to the mountain. Each bus has a parent chaperone which allows kids to ride the bus without parents. The chaperone helps get the kids to and from ski lessons each day. 

Parents are welcome to ride the bus as well and go up for a day of skiing! It is a great way to skip the stress of parking and get everyone up to the mountain for a day of skiing!

There are two programs that run for 4 weekends in January and February. You can choose one or both programs.

Say what you will about social media ... but it is a great way to get information out to lots of people quickly! For this reason, our PTA is on both Facebook and Instagram. Our Parents Facebook page is also a great place for parents to post questions and get information about things happening in our community. 

It is also a great way to see old photos from PTA events if you are new to our school. ◡̈
