The Capitol Hill School Auction is our biggest fundraiser of the year and is what allows our PTA to do all the many things we do to make our school a great place to grow.
Mark your calendar!
Our auction will be held on
Saturday, March 8, 2025
When is the auction? Saturday, March 8, 2025 2:00pm - 5:00pm at Capitol Hill Elementary
What is the theme? The theme of the auction this year is Art Box - an afternoon showcasing creativity and generosity
Can children attend? Yes! Children of all ages are welcome (and free).
Do I have to dress up? Wear what makes you comfortable
Do I have to purchase anything at the auction? Absolutely not! There is no obligation to buy anything, but there will be opportunities to support our school by purchasing activities (fish on the fence, paint-a scale, and art sponsorship), bidding on grade level art, bidding on items in our silent auction, and entering the raffle for teacher-created baskets.
Will there be a silent auction and a live auction? Our reimagined event will still have a live auction to purchase grade-level art pieces, and a 100% online silent auction. Anyone can bid on silent auction items, even out-of-state family and friends! The silent auction will be open from 2:00pm Saturday, March 8th to 9pm, Sunday, March 9th.
What types of items will be available at the auction? There will be student artwork, physical items, childcare and camp certificates, restaurant gift cards, event tickets, sign-up parent-hosted parties, special outings with your child’s favorite teacher, and more. Please visit the auction website (found on the invitation) to participate in the silent auction.

Will there be food? There will be small bites and refreshments included with your entry.
I have friends who want to join. Are they welcome, or is this only for CH families? Anyone who wants to support our school is welcome to purchase tickets! Invite your neighbors, the grandparents or bring along your weekend house guests!
How much are tickets? Tickets are $25 - purchase online before March 1, 2025. Kids enter for free!
What happens with the money raised at this event? Funds raised at the auction help support our school in any way we can. The PTA funds a generous teacher budget, special field trips and experiences, books for the library, fun community events, and allow for all students and families to attend all community events, regardless of income.
Is there a "special appeal" this year? Yes! We will continue our exciting outdoor transformation project!
I miss the old auction format. Why is it changing? While we love a night out with fellow parents, we want to try something new for our biggest fundraiser of the year that is more accessible for everyone and centers our creative and amazing students. No expensive entry, no childcare required, no costume necessary = more money ending up in the hands of our teachers.
Can I help with the auction? We need lots of volunteers to have the auction go off without a hitch! Click here to sign up to volunteer at the auction (or any other event).
I can't go to the auction. Can I still join in the fun (or donate)? There are several ways to support the auction if you can't attend. You can: buy a ticket for a teacher, purchase a fish on the fence, purchase sections (fish scales) to paint on the paint-by-number style painting, donate silent auction items: in-kind donations from your business (goods, services, gift certificates), donate your time and host a parent night (e.g. poker night, wine tasting, etc.), and bid on fun items in the online silent auction.
