On Saturday, February 25th, we will have our biggest fundraiser of the year and one of our best parties of the year ... the AUCTION! 

Mark your calendars and start planning those groovy 1960's outfits because Capitol Hill is known for our auction costumes!* 

Buy your tickets online today! During the month of January, we have an Early Bird Special on ticket sales! If you buy your tickets online this month, you will get $5 off a single ticket, $10 off a couples ticket or $40 off a table of 8! 

If you would like to make a table of 8 people or sit with someone specific, please email CHEAuctionTables@gmail.com Tables will be arranged by grade level as well. Auctions are a great way to meet new people!

During the auction, we have a special portion of the evening where we raise money for a specific item - the special appeal. Last year, we raised money for a gaga pit and wall ball court and we should see signs of construction soon! 

Past special appeals have raised money for - the creation of the school garden, more playground climbing structures, music, alternative student seating and STEAM activities. This year, we are so excited to be raising money for our community in our Student Support Fund. 

The money from this fund could be used in a number of different ways. We would like to find a way to support our students with: 

• A basic needs closet which would have shoes, hats, coats, socks, undies, gloves and more readily available to any student in need.
• Gift cards to grocery stores for any family experiencing acute food insecurity. Our fund could quickly support a family while our staff works to connect the family with longer term solutions.
• Scholarships for after school programs allowing all students access to our enrichment programs.
• Funding for our Capitol Hill Equity Team of teachers and staff as they work to bridge the achievement gaps within our school.
• Funding for speakers for teachers/parents/students.
• And so much more! Let's increase the success of all of our students with this fund!

The auction is only 5 weeks away and the auction team is working hard to make it an amazing night! There is still time to become an Auction Sponsor! WINE, WINE, WONDERFUL WINE!

It is time to help us build the auction wine wall! 

We need 50+ bottles of wine for the auction! Can you donate a $20 bottle of wine to the auction? If you haven't donated yet, this is a quick and easy way to help! You can either drop the wine off at Rachel Wells' house rwguinness@yahoo.com (preferred), or drop off at Nora Blackwell's house near the school or connect with Melissa Hamilton at drop off or pick up. If you are interested in donating one, two or TEN bottles of $20+ bottles of wine, please reach out to Rachel! Thank you!!

Old Spaghetti Factory

• When:  Wednesday, January 25 from 4:30pm-9:30pm
• Where: Old Spaghetti Factory, 715 S Bancroft Street, Portland, OR 97239
• Details: For dine-in or takeout.  OSF will donate 15% of Capitol Hill sales to the PTA!
• Dine-in:  You must present the flyer - either digitally or hard copy - in order for your sale to count towards the total!  Hard copy flyers should be coming home with your student(s) this week!
• Take-out:  You must reference the code "HILL" when placing an order.

Let's get together for a fun social hour at Tryon Creek Sports Bar on Terwilliger on Wednesday, February 1st. This is NOT a PTA function ... this is just a group of parents that want to get together and meet other Capitol Hill parents. See you there around 7pm on February 1st! 

We are so excited to have after school enrichment classes at Capitol Hill again! We currently have 6 classes running for the winter session (Lego for K-2, Lego for 3-5, Chess Club for 2-5, Watercolors for all grade levels, Yoga for K-3 and Coding for 3-5). There are still a few spots available if you would like to try and join this session. If you missed the winter session, we are planning to have classes in the spring as well. Our Staff Appreciation Team has been working hard all year to show our teachers and staff how much we love and appreciate all they do for our kids. They have brought morning snacks and coffee as well as after school snacks for staff meetings.

The PTA Website is full of great information and now has a new Resources tab. There you will find PTA meeting minutes, treasurer's reports, calendars, newsletters, the PTA reimbursement form and the Staff Favorite Things List. 

Say what you will about social media ... but it is a great way to get information out to lots of people quickly! For this reason, our PTA is on both Facebook and Instagram. Our Parents Facebook page is also a great place for parents to post questions and get information about things happening in our community. 

It is also a great way to see old photos from PTA events if you are new to our school. ◡̈
